SLATE Contemporary Gallery has been operating in Oakland since 2009. They currently represent 30 artists and curate six shows per year in their space at 473 25th Street in the Uptown neighborhood between Telegraph and Broadway. Their artists are largely from the Bay Area and Southern California, with a few from other states. Their emphasis is on abstract art with formal backbone, practiced technique, and a deeply human approach–but have been known to show figurative and landscape work as well. Shows rotate between solo presentations, themed group exhibitions, and inventory collections.

Their sister company, SLATE Art Consulting, curates rotating lobby exhibitions in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, and builds collections for corporate and non-profit organizations on a contract basis. Their principals also take on select private clients for advisory service relationships on a case-by-case basis.

Public gallery hours are Saturdays 12-5 or by appointment.
